Di Denpasar akhir-akhir ini sedang dilanda hujan lagi. Kota jadi sering dirundung awan muram dan suasana yang dingin. Kalau sudah begitu menurut saya suasananya jadi seperti setting film Twillight yang serba muram, dingin dan misterius. Tapi saya suka! Suasana ini yang membuat pikiran saya jadi penuh ide, dan entah mengapa meskipun suasana di luar muram seperti itu, hati saya justru merasakan sebaliknya.

 Let's see 'comparing yourself with others' from two different way:

(+) Plus:

1. Dengan membandingkan diri dengan orang lain kita jadi tau apa kekurangan dan kelebihan kita.

2. Kita jadi lebih bersemangat untuk membenahi diri untuk menjadi pribadi yang lebih baik.

3. Lebih menghargai diri sendiri.


(-) Minus:

1. Dengan membandingkan diri dengan orang lain kita jadi rendah diri. Misal, kita merasa kalau A lebih baik dari kita di bidang melukis dan dominan di kelas, kita jadi rendah diri dan percaya kalau kita tidak akan bisa melukis sebaik dia. Kita terlalu fokus pada ketidakmampuan kita, padahal kalau mau melihat lebih ke dalam diri kita, kita mungkin memiliki talenta dan bakat di hal lainnya. Seringkali, kita terlalu sibuk mencari 'keluar' tanpa mencari ke 'dalam' diri lebih dahulu. Got it? :)

2. Lain dengan rendah diri, terkadang terlalu membandingkan diri dengan orang lain justru membuat kita berusaha menjatuhkan orang lain dengan menjelek-jelekkan talentanya hanya untuk membesarkan hati kita kalau kita lebih baik. Biasanya dalam hal ini, jauh di dalam hati kecil kita tau kalau orang itu mungkin lebih berbakat, namun kita enggan mengakuinya karena kita tidak mau kalah darinya.

3. Kita jadi terlalu meng-copy paste kegiatan atau apapun hal yang dilakukan orang yang kita banding-bandingkan dengan diri kita karena kita percaya itulah yang seharusnya kita lakukan agar terlihat lebih baik.

4. If you are too busy comparing yourself (whether your strength or your weakness) with others, somehow you will find yourself lost in your way and at the end, you will give up your happiness.

Sebelumnya saya mau cerita sedikit, saya sempat ikut seminar nasional di kampus Udayana beberapa waktu yang lalu. Waktu itu pembicaranya Deva Mahenra, dan dia bilang begini: 'Bandingkan diri kita sekarang dengan diri kita yang dulu,' dan kata-kata itu terngiang di kepala saya tiap kali saya merasa lost and down.

Lihatlah jauh ke belakang untuk melihat seberapa jauh kita sudah melangkah dari garis start. Lihat sudah berapa banyak pencapaian yang kita raih and be grateful for it. Kalau kita rasa perjalanan kita masih jauh, jangan ragu untuk melangkahkan kaki agar kita bisa mencapai apa yang kita impikan.
Jujur, dengan cara ini, saya jadi lebih sering mensyukuri apa yang saya miliki sekarang, entah itu pengalaman hidup, atau pencapaian-pencapaian yang sejauh ini sudah saya lalui. :)

Kalau ujung-ujungnya kita masih terlalu sering (baca: kelewatan) membandingkan diri dengan orang lain, ingat deh, kita dan mereka tidak mengalami perjalanan hidup yang sama. Kita dan mereka mengalami pengalaman dan pelajaran hidup yang berbeda pula. Sometimes, what works for them, not works for us.  Don't force yourself being someone else that don't suit yourself.




Saya tidak bilang kalau 'comparing yourself with others' itu sepenuhnya buruk. Itu semua kembali pada bagaimana cara kita menyikapinya. Kalau membandingkan diri dengan orang lain justru bikin kita lebih semangat membangun diri, I think it's still okay.. :)

Whatever, just be happy with yourself. Be grateful with your life: about the way you think even sometimes you think that you are weird; be grateful for yourself, your parent, your family, your friends, your lover, your pets; your whole and entire life, everything that makes you today. Be thankful even for a small thing, like every breath you take or every minute you spend. You can make a list about everything that you have, be grateful and thankful for it. Believe me, it's makes your soul feel rich and full of joy..  :)

At least, don't forget to be happy. :)

For sure, lagu-lagu soundtrack kartun disney selalu bisa bikin saya merinding. Banyak sekali lagu disney yang memberikan kesan untuk saya, salah satunya lagu "Colors of The Wind" soundtrack dari Pocahontas (1995). Menurut saya lagu ini memiliki makna yang sangat dalam. Wikipedia says: 'The song poetically presents the Native American viewpoint that the earth is a living entity where humankind is connected to everything in nature'. I love this song so much. I often found myself humming this song.

I believe that I likes a lot about 60's to 70's era and still don't know why. I was not even born at that time. I am 90's generation, FYI.

I think, back then in 60's to 70's are both produce a lot of good music, a good taste of style, a good movies. Still, I don't know much about that, but I know about The Beatles (My mom listen to some of their song, such as 'Hey Jude', 'Don't Let Me Down', 'I Want To Hold Your Hand', 'And I Love Her' -and 'Hey Jude' is her favorite one so far, which I like the most too.) I love The Beatles.




 I also know a little about Audrey Hepburn because I remember ever saw her in my mother's pile of old magazines.


And as I ever told before, I do love a movie and also novel titled 'Love Story' by Erich Segal which is published in 1970. And oh, I love so much about the way Jennifer Cavilleri dressed.

By the way, doesn't it looks perfect? This style is never getting old fashioned. Even now in 2016, I believe this style is still accepted.

I don't know, I see that 60's and 70's style are catching my eyes. I am not a fashion people but I can say that 60's and 70's style is never dies; let's say 'cat eye', or 'bangs' or all the fashion material that Jenny Cavilleri wears above.

I love those two classic item and dream a lot about having it even since I was too young to notice that those item are both 60's or 70's style.


I also love 80's era, and my favorite icon is absolutely 'Lady Diana'

I identified myself as introvert one because I do feel like an introvert: I avoid eye contact with other people but strangely try so hard to make eye contact with puppies (I often talks to dog even I am not sure the dog know what am I talking about because they don't talk to me back, but, never mind, I still love them.). I love to have a me time as much as possible. I do love sleeping than going outside to hanging out. I love to being quiet but sometimes you can find me so chatty, especially, when I talking about something that I love or when I surrounded by people that I love.

I take a Buzzfeed quizzes to test what kind of introvert is myself in this link: Only Take This Quiz If You're an Introvert and find out that I am the mild introvert one. It says that mild introvert are tend to be introverted but have extroverted moment here and there. Mild introvert will be awkward in large social gathering but don't mind being in small groups of friend. First, I only takes this quiz for fun but end up believe it, because I think it suits myself.

Oke, before you go so far, and still don't have any idea what introvert or extrovert are, here is some differences between being introvert and extrovert:

1. Introvert is love enjoying me time with them self. Extrovert love enjoying their 'me time' hanging out, or going somewhere with other.

2. Introvert are good listener, and extrovert is a good talker. When introvert try to find some good topic to talk about, extrovert naturally have a bunch of that.

3. Introvert are to shy being the center of attention, but extrovert is love being the center of attention.

4. Introvert often cancelled appointment or plans, extrovert often making appointment. Introvert as I told before is often too shy even just to met their old friend. But extrovert in other hand is too crazy to met their old friend so they often makes appointment first.

5. Introvert is often have a problem socializing with other, and extrovert is the opposite. Introvert find them self struggling with making friend but extrovert is easily makes a new one here and there.

6. Introvert is feels easily drained when they are in social gathering, and to charge their energy, they love to fill it with a quality alone me time. Extrovert love being in social gathering and easily feel bored when they are alone.

But don't be too judgmental about these two different type. Introvert is not the saddest one and extrovert is not always the happiest one. Just because introvert are struggling when making friends, it doesn't mean that they don't have friends at all. Sometimes extrovert is also feels lonely but not because they hate being lonely, they hate to being alone sometimes. Yes, introvert and extrovert is quite different, but remember, they are both born unique :) Whatever you are, just be happy with it.

Quite classic memang but I love it! Meskipun keluaran tahun 1970, menurut saya cerita dalam novel ini tidak lekang oleh waktu. Bercerita tentang gadis miskin, Jennifer Cavilleri, dan laki-laki kaya bernama Oliver Barrett IV yang jatuh cinta. Kisah dalam novel ini sangat romantis, lucu namun juga getir. Bagi yang ingin spoiler bisa baca plot lengkapnya di Wikipedia, tapi bagi yang ingin menikmati kisah lengkapnya silahkan baca bukunya :)




Saya pertama kali baca buku ini hasil pinjaman dari perpustakaan. Mungkin saya sudah membaca buku ini sebanyak tiga kali, tapi saya tetap suka. Saya suka jalan ceritanya dan saya suka bagaimana buku ini bisa bikin saya senyum-senyum sendiri, lalu mewek beberapa saat kemudian.

There is so many reason why I have a really hard crush with this character beside his appearance (which is, of course, looks appealing and handsome):

1. He is incredibly kind.
2. He is very hard-working. You can see how hard he try to make his dream robot, Baymax, works.
3. He is the perfect role model as a big bro for his younger brother, Hiro Hamada.
4. He love his family so much. He'll do everything to encourage or protect his family, especially, his younger brother, Hiro.
5. He is gentle.
6. He is smart, brilliant and intellectual.
7. His deep voice (Thanks to Daniel Henney who doing his voice, because he makes this character even more perfect).
5. But, after all his perfectness, Tadashi is still down to earth
7. He is also brave. He even come back to try to help his professor, Robert Callaghan, from a fire breaks. But he never come back alive..

Still sad why such a kind and lovely character like this must die too soon. Even now, I still can't accept his death.. Still want Disney to make a plot twist that someday he will be come back alive.

Nothing can be more joy and peaceful than staring at the window when it's rain outside, while drinking a cup of tea or coffee and listening to my 'some' favorite song.. This part is about Roger Radcliffe from 101 Dalmatians (1961). I love 101 Dalmatians since I was a little, but I never pay attention to their owner, Roger Radcliffe, that much. A few month ago, I decided to watch it again and I found myself still love 101 Dalmatians, but now, Roger, obviously catch my attention.


Why do I love him? Here is some reason:

 1. His appearance is appealing and handsome

2. He is funny

   He acted childish, but for me, it's makes him more lovely.




3. He is spontaneous sometimes

I love Disney sooooo much. I grew up watching bunch of Disney cartoon. Saya tidak ingat kapan tepatnya, dan kapan pertama kali saya mulai menonton kartun Disney. Mungkin sejak balita, mungkin sejak taman kanak-kanak.. Saya lupa.. Yang pasti, kartun Disney adalah bagian dari masa kecil dan hidup saya.

Ngomong-ngomong tentang Disney, karakter-karakternya pastilah sangat lekat dengan ingatan siapapun yang pernah menontonnya, dan pasti, ada beberapa karakter yang justru nyantol dalam ingatan sebagai 'childhood crush'. Saya punya beberapa karakter Disney yang saya nobatkan sebagai 'my childhood crush', di antaranya mungkin terdengar konyol but.. it is childhood crush so, ya, nothing could go wrong..

Karakter Disney yang saya sukai pertama adalah Simba.. Yep, Simba dari The Lion King itu.. Simba yang anak singa itu? Iya! Terdengar konyol memang karena Simba notabene anak singa dan saya sebagai anak manusia bisa menganggap kalo Simba is somehow charismatic and handsome and gentle and etcetera.. and etcetera..  I just remember how much I like and love this character.

Saya termasuk orang yang suka sekali dengan musim hujan. Hujan membuat hati saya bersuka cita. Suasana jadi tenang dan sejuk. Hiruk pikuk diluaran sana juga mendadak teredam bila hujan rintik-rintik mulai berjatuhan. Kalau kebetulan hujan pada hari Minggu pagi, mungkin saya bisa betah berlama-lama bergelung di atas kasur sambil mendengar bunyi rintik hujan dari balik selimut, tidak peduli jarum jam berdentang naik karena langit kelabu mengelabui hari. Tapi kalau hujan jatuh pada weekdays, biasanya saya menyiapkan kumpulan lagu-lagu favorit yang saya kumpulkan di playlist untuk saya dengarkan sambil bekerja, sembari menikmati suasana sejuk yang hujan ciptakan dan bau lembap tanah yang merebak ke udara.



Hujan memunculkan sisi mellow dramatis dalam diri saya. Saya yang sangat menyukai lagu-lagu berbau romansa jadi semakin getol mendengarkan lagu-lagu favorit saya itu sambil membiarkan khayalan saya sejenak melambung. Kalau sudah begini, sensasinya mirip seperti orang yang sedang jatuh cinta, tapi entah dengan siapa.

Karena sekarang sepertinya sudah mulai musim hujan lagi di Bali, lagu-lagu ini kembali menemani saya menjalani hari. Berikut beberapa lagu yang sering saya putar di saat hujan tiba:

Saya lupa apa lagi, terlalu banyak lagu yang membangkitkan imajinasi saya saat hujan. Mungkin lain kali, saya akan bikin playlist part 2- nya, sembari saya ingat-ingat lagu apa lagi yang kira-kira berkesan buat saya kalau dinikmati dengan iringan rintik hujan.
